Nathan Queeley-Dennis is a writer and actor who created this stunning play Bullring Techno Makeout Jamz, an undeniable love song to Birmingham. Nathan has won the Bruntwood prize and been given rave reviews from each venue this play has travelled to but as a blind audience member I was blown away by how this Brummy writer has tenderly explored the challenges faced when dating and trying to achieve purpose in life without feeling the need torely on visual clues to tell this story. (BSL will be provided for each venue) Comedy runs through the bones of this production. Nathaniel's representation of the people he comes into contact with and his quick wit mean that the darker topics he explores can be taken as tongue in cheek moments and the audience interaction encourages them to laugh along at his struggles.

The creative team, director Dermot Daly and composer Tom Foskett-Barnes have ensured that the direction and music enhance Nathan’s hilarious performance enabling Nathaniel to focus his attentions on using apps to find his 90s music video true love and meeting that one person who can share his daily trials and tribulations. His experience has not been positive to date.. Through this search he shares his close relationship with his barber, his frustration in a soul destroying job,, the strong ties he has with his family and friends and ignores his real passion, that purpose for life.

Nathaniel's journey represents writer Nathan's love for his city. Through each date we learn about his usual haunts but that love settles much deeper than physical buildings. Nathaniel has found that peace of mind, generally attributed to an isolated forest or gentle stream underneath the buzzing beehive of Birmingham city. In many ways the audience is provided with a secret window into Nathaniel's quarter life crisis, a challenge many young people are having to experience in the current climate. Nathaniel is searching for his route in life, he may be lost and unsure who to pick but Nathan has it all mapped out.

Nathan Queeley-Dennis has burst into playwriting with a play and a performance which will be raved about for years to come. Audiences leaving this production not only felt excited and happy about what they had watched but being able to experience Bullring Techno Makeout Jamz in Birmingham the audience became part of Nathan's love song.
